autism is a sensitive subject. (get it?) many people think many things about it. some people call themselves experts on it. i couldn’t get any of those people, but luckily i’m great friends with famous soft npr voice (and excellent writer) david sedaris, so we’ll get his thoughts instead.
now there are two pressing questions:
number one, what is autism? i’m sure we’ll both have many thoughts about that. perhaps we’ll even figure out what autism really is -- which, of course, needs to happen before anything can be “done about it” one way or the other. where the medical establishment has failed, perhaps we will succeed.
but even more pressing is -- why does trump care so much about autism? there are lots of health issues in this country, after all, some of which he is -- obesity, sodium overload, a lack of fiber, etc...but despite his personal knowledge of those, mr. trump seems much more interested in autism, which, whatever else we will say about it, doesn’t kill people, unlike those others. so why the focus? we will wonder, and you can wonder along with us.
